Shadows

3dsMax 2008 introduced new 'viewport shadows' called 'Review'. Unfortunately for game artists, Review does not work 'out of the box' with DirectX materials.

Having shadows in the 3dsMax viewport is very beneficial for things such as level editing (object placement) as well as 'look and feel' development.

We're pleased to announce that with ShaderFX 2.0 both the Standard Material and Sub Surface Scattering (SSS) material in ShaderFX support the new 'Review' shadows by simply enabling a checkbox in the Material node. It couldn't be easier :)

Up to four lights can be used in the shader to cast Shadows. ShaderFX automatically manages assigning shadow casting lights in the Shader, making it quick and painless.
